The Spokane River is our community signature, literally and figuratively flowing through our daily lives. Your membership keeps you in the know and flow of sustaining a healthy river system for generations to come.

We’re pleased to announce REI has agreed to help the Forum launch our membership drive. Those signing up by the end of June will enter a drawing to win a Weekend Cooler and four sets of REI Campware dishes. Think picnic by the river. As a bonus, there will be a drawing for two canoe rental gift certificates. Each month, an additional sponsor will donate something new that members are entered to win.

Carol Christensen, REI’s local outreach specialist, explained their support like this, “We invest in volunteer projects and make the outdoors as accessible as possible. The Forum’s doing a great job for the Spokane River. We hope others join us in supporting them.”

For Spokane River lovers, the Forum is the non-profit organization that creates materials, events and activities that help sustain a healthy river system while meeting the needs of a growing population. “We’re a clearinghouse for information, get dialog going, and help incubate ideas and actions that restore and protect the river,” said Andy Dunau, the Forum’s Executive Director.

Spokane River E-news updates go out to over 1800 people; the water trail initiative is restoring and creating new access; Meet Me at the River has introduced over 550 people to all or part of the Spokane River; EnviroStars gives small businesses recognition for keeping waste products out of the river and aquifer; annual conferences and public meetings  are attended by over 200 stakeholders; and the Forum facilitates dialogs on water quality, quantity, access, and other issues.
