Spokane River issues part of Lake Roosevelt Forum Conference

The conference features sessions of interest to Spokane River and regional interests. For instance, the conference opens with a unique plenary session which takes the climate change discussion to the next level. The keynote and panelists will present on modeling and tools to account for climate change as a part of developing policy and natural resource planning. U.S. Forest Service, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Bonneville Power Administration, Ecology, Bureau of Reclamation, and WSU will be presenting.
The opening plenary session on Wednesday the 20th features Washington efforts to update fish consumption standards. The standards and implementation tools selected will affect the cost of complying with regulations and answering the question how clean is clean for concerned stakeholders. Presenters include Seattle University School of Law, Ecology, Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, the Colville Confederated Tribes and industry.
Other sessions of general interest include the Columbia River Treaty, the fight to address non-native predators threatening native fish populations, the health of Lake Roosevelt fisheries, Midnite Mine clean-up on the Spokane Reservation, and more.
