Thank You, City of Spokane Valley

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Forum is pleased to announce a small grant from the City of Spokane Valley to support our Spokane River water trail web site and related activities.  Valley support comes from a fund that provides strategic grants to support social services and economic development.

Said Andy Dunau, the Forum Executive Director, “The Valley’s parks and recreation, planning and other departments have supported water trail restoration efforts at Mirabeau and Barker Road. And the city’s committed to creating new access as part of the Sullivan Bridge replacement project.”

The net result is that more people, tourists and residents alike, can enjoy the Spokane River. “Working collaboratively,” said Andy Dunau, “is our not-so-secret sauce. Over 10,000 unique visitors accessed the site in 2013, and we only launched the site in May.”

“So it’s a win-win situation,” continues Dunau. “The valley is offering some awesome, diverse access. We’re helping draw people to these sites, encouraging safety, and promoting good stewardship.”
